Feelin' Queasy

Joelle

As you all know yesterday was Joelle's first game with her new team. They played really well together and tied to an older team that is pretty good. Joelle was not feeling very good before the game and spent most of the morning in the bathroom. I thought it was nerves since that is what I do before every one of my games. She played quite a bit in the first half and was able to make some good passes and had some great through balls. She made a nice long pass to a forward who passed it to the other forward for the first goal of the game. She didn't look as good as usual though. The second half she did not play as much and we could tell she had told the coach her stomach was bugging her. After the game we came home and Joelle laid down and watched some TV. Then she went and laid in my bed- and barfed. Now she has thrown up at least six times and is really sick. She didn't say she did not want to play yesterday- just that her stomach was bugging her. Well it is full blown flu.

I have been doing ok. I have lost a total of 10 pounds! Yippee. I also got my hair done- it is highlighted again with the red underneath. I took Joelle out on Friday night and we got some spring clothes as well as track shoes for her. I am not getting anything new for me until I lose more weight.

Mitch seems to be feeling better. However when he had his blood work done the test of his liver was abnormal. We think it is just ibuprofen related. He has another test on April 10. He also got his hair cut. He is still cutting his own and I really wish he would let it grow out and then actually get it styled. I mean he still has a full head of hair so why is he doing this?

Take the good when you can grab it.

as you all know Joelle has started out working with a new team and a new coach. We thought this would be a good opportunity for her and is you are sick of me writing about her soccer you can skip this first section here. LOL So she is now working with Coach Malcolm and he is very nice. She had her first practice yesterday with his team and to say she was nervous would be an understatement. This team is the Vipers and they are the ones that eliminated the Heartbreakers from the state cup last year. They are also the team that Megan saw play against Joelle's team. Joelle was warmly welcomed to the team- I have already had parents offer to carpool and stuff for us. Coach M has already given Joelle a position- center attacking midfield. He is 'very pleased to be working with such a talented player'. He thinks she has good balls skills and that she can carry it, make the long pass and shoot well. This is already more than what her other coach has said about her. I think he will be supportive.

I have lost 8 lbs! Yippee- I don't just think it is from being sick. I have been working out pretty hard and I have also not been as hungry. I have lots of energy and feel good. Last night I had my two goals in five minutes and then played defense. I guess after the game the other team complained that I did not belong in the league- I guess I played well.

I also joined the planning committee for the reunion and it is going to be a lot o fun. I really lost touch with so many people from high school. People that I was friends with, but not super close mainly because I was kinda stupid and spent so much time with Rich. Not that he was a bad guy, but just that I wished I would have had more of a High school experience. We had every class together and you guys know how much time we spent together- I mean since we had every class together we studied together and then of course there were dates too. I guess it was nice though that when I was in hawaii he did all my homework. Oh and he typed my papers for me. But still wish I would have had a wider circle of friends.

That is pretty much all my goodish news. I am really worried about Mitch. Yes he is working out and looking just great. These past two weeks he has had quite a bit of pain- unbearable to the point of tears. We are not exactly sure the cause of it and I will leave it at what we think which is hernia. He is finally going to the doc tomorrow and hopefully we will find out that it is minor. I won't say anymore about it on here as I am sure MItch does not want me to broadcast it.

Daylight Savings Time Sucks

So today is the first day of daylight savings time and Joelle had a game at 7am. So it was really more like 6am. So we go- and the other team did not show up. They scrimmaged each other. Her team split in half and played. It was interesting. I have been going to these games and watching and I thought the team was pretty good- Jo has had good and bad games, but overall I thought most of the girls were not bad soccer players. They played 5v5- including a goalie. Joelle was being mellow- she was doing her whole bring it down and pass it thing- after three times of that with no goal- she started shooting herself. Mark next to me said I guess she got tired all those passes not being capitalized. She did continue to pass, but when she was open and had a shot she took it. By the 11 min of the game Joelle had 5 goals. She played goalie the rest of the first half and then switched to defense for the entire second half. She has been playing well and it is nice to see her actually juggle in a game. I never thought that was a skill she would use in a game but she is trapping it on her knees now and pretty confident. Her team for spring starts practice tomorrow. I hope that it goes well.

Yesterday I went to Red Robin and met some people from Fort class of 89. I decided to be on the planning committee for the reunion. It is in the summer and since I am a teacher I will have time to do things. We are not having it until August. So I saw more people from school- of course Rick (Ricky) Weber was there as he was the class president. I know you guys remember him- I have an old photo of Rick and Jackie dancing together! Bo and Jenny (Erskine) Clark were also there. Jenny is Carrie Erskine's little sister and Bo was in my class. I think those are the only people on the planning thing that you guys would know. Apparently being able to wear my high school sweatshirt was a big deal- my goodness how much weight does a person have to gain to not be able to wear their baggie sweatshirt? I was more thrilled when I dug my class ring out and discovered that it fit me. i have ben wearing it and think I will keep it on for awhile- not just because once it was on I could not get it off!
The person i have been most excited to reconnect with is of course Jennifer Porter- Robins now. She is just great and as fun as ever and we talk quite a bit and laugh and laugh. I wish she would have gone to Fort.

Mitch is feeling a bit better. I can tell cause yesterday he went to the gym. He is going all out now- eating these protein bars and doing this special workout from some magazine. I am not exactly sure what his fitness goal is. He wanted to schedule to see a personal trainer- but that is $60 an hour and he seems to be doing just fine on his own. Maybe all this is happening cause he turns 40 this year. I have to figure out what I am going to do about that. I want to have a big party for him and thought that Meadows would be an appropriate spot- our house is just kinda small. but maybe since it is in May we could do a BBQ. I mean with all his friends, family and stuff it will be a big crowd- I think. I have to find out if he wants to do anything and if so what he wants.

SO that is about all that has been going on in my life the last week. Hope everyone is doing well.

Oh and Megan I do have some BIG hair photos of you- lol.
